PWD hits out at corporations for lack of cooperation

Delhi PWD minister Raj Kumar Chauhan slammed the three corporations for not cooperating in keeping the city clean. ‘Their reluctance in allowing dumping of silt taken out by PWD in their landfill sites may result in the breakout of an epidemic causing loss of lives of poor and under-privileged people putting up in JJ clusters and rehabilitation colonies,’ Chauhan said.

‘The corporations have been claiming that their dumping sites are only for their use. It means they are avoiding basic responsibility of keeping Delhi clean. The accumulation of taken out silt from the drains on roads may attract mosquitoes which can lead to the spread of diseases such as Dengue, Malaria and others,’ he said.

He claimed that despite refusal by one of the MCDs, the PWD completed dumping of a total of 5.47 lakh metric tonnes silt taken out of the drains and dumped it in a coordinated manner without causing any difficulty to the residents.
