Puducherry CM assures to join NDA after its formation

On Thursday evening, he met BJP president Rajnath Singh and expressed his wish to join the NDA. ‘I Met Puducherry chief minister N Rangaswamy in Chennai today who decided to join the NDA. I welcome him into the NDA,’ Singh said.

Rangaswamy’s statement ahead of the Lok Sabha poll is considered as significant by the senior party leaders in making ground in southern India. Already in the morning they had an alliance with the seven regional parties in Tamil Nadu.

Rangaswamy, is the chief minister of the Puducherry from 2001 to 2008 and 2011 to till date. Under his leadership, Puducherry was acclaimed as the best state to live, and awarded as one of the ‘best states’.

He is a law graduate and mainly worked for the infrastructural development of the union territory at par with the other cities. His effort on free education through good government schools, free reimbursements for professional-non professional college students was largely appreciated by the people and educationists.

Also, his Mid-day Meal Scheme and Breakfast schemes for the poor school children have won accolades from the poor communities across the Union Territory.
