Delhi PWD Minister Satyendra Jain on Thursday said the government would come out with a proposal in a month to install CCTV cameras across the national capital with the aim of ensuring women’s safety.

A senior official said that the government was ready to fund the project and it has a list of areas where CCTV cameras would be installed.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also asked the PWD to expedite the installation of CCTV cameras and light up the “dark spots” across the capital in order to ensure <g data-gr-id="60">safety</g> of women. “We have started preparing a proposal on the installation of CCTV cameras across the national capital. It will take us one month to prepare the proposal,” Jain told reporters here.

On the security front, the PWD has been asked by the government to bring a proposal at the earliest to put up CCTV cameras all over the city de-linking it from the wi-fi project.

“The PWD has been asked to identify all dark spots in Delhi, as soon as possible, and also identify spots where streetlights are not present and places where they are installed but are not working,” an official statement had on Wednesday said.

Kejriwal had on Wednesday taken to Twitter to announce the Cabinet decisions and said that “HODs must ensure workers get minimum wages.”

“Delhi Cabinet decides to revise minimum wages...Contractors who don’t pay min wages will be blacklisted. Cabinet took two important decisions for women’s safety — PWD should lit up all dark spots in Delhi and bring a proposal soon to put CCTV cameras all over Delhi,” he had said.
