Property dealer shot dead, wife critically injured after gunmen open fire

A partially paralysed property dealer was shot dead while his wife is battling for her life in a hospital after being attacked by two persons over a property dispute in Bijwasan area of South-west Delhi. The accused have been identified and are likely to be arrested soon.

The incident took place on Monday when two men went to the property dealer’s residence in Bijwasan area. As Sonu Rana is partially paralysed, his wife — Latika accompanied him. After seeing Rana, one of the accused pulled out a pistol and shot at him and his wife. The duo fell unconscious in a pool of blood and the accused managed to flee. Rana, who came out of jail one month ago, was declared dead on arrival while the condition of Latika is stated to be critical. During investigation, it was learnt that the accused persons had  paid Rs 50 lakh to Rana to buy a plot but he didn’t hand over the plot to them. In anger, the duo planned to eliminate Rana.

It was also learnt that Rana had fooled many people by taking cash from them against a property and have not handed over the land to them. Recently, Rana’s father and brothers have also registered fraud cases against him. Meanwhile, teams have been formed to nab the accused persons and they are likely to be arrested, police said.
