Property dealer shot dead at his office by unknown man

A 46-year-old property dealer, who used to work as a BJP party worker, was allegedly shot dead in his office by unidentified man in Outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar area on Wednesday night. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Asharam. Meanwhile, the family of the victim alleged that sometime back, Asharam had given a statement against the killer of his friend.

The incident took place at around 9.30 pm at Pravesh Nagar, Mubarakpur area of Aman Vihar when Asharam was present in his office.

Asharam is survived by his wife Sunita and three children and lived in a house adjacent to his office in Pravesh Nagar.

The officer said that Asharam was inside the office for some work, while his wife, Sunita was right outside her house and was waiting for her husband to finish his work.

“His wife told us that at around 9.30 pm, she saw a man in his late 20’s coming from the street. He went inside Asharam’s office,” said the officer.

Sunita told police that she never grew suspicious as “my husband was a social worker and was involved in party activities. Several people would meet him at his office on a daily basis. My children were sleeping inside the office.”

In her statement, she said that “Suddenly I heard two shots fired from inside the office. Before I could make sense of what had happened, the assailant ran away.”

Police said that Sunita rushed to the office and found her husband lying in a pool of blood. She started calling out for help after which the locals gathered. One of them made a PCR call after which police took Asharam to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri where he was declared brought dead.

A senior police official said that they have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC at Aman Vihar police station.

The official said: “We have collected an empty cartridge. The victim was hit on his chest which proved to be fatal. Since there is no CCTV footage, we do not have a visual of the suspect but he will soon be apprehended.”
