Promoter who cooked up bomb attack theory put behind bars

In the investigation, the police came to know that the businessman sustained injuries after the bomb he was carrying had exploded. Ever since the incident had occurred on last Sunday, the victims’ family members alleged that some miscreants had hurled bomb on Basak when he was returning home on that day after attending an idol immersion programme.

After being released from a private nursing home at EM Bypass where the victim had been undergoing treatment for last few days with splinter injuries was finally arrested by the police.

Police came to know in the investigation that nobody had hurled bombs at him. A bomb which Basak was carrying had exploded suddenly leading to his injury, police said.

Police are investigating why Basak was carrying the bombs with him and what his purpose was.
Police want to interrogate him further in order to reach to bottom of the truth. Police came to know that the victim was injured while riding on his motorcycle during his return home.

The incident occurred on Canal East Road at around 12.30 am Saturday night. Police said that Basak, a local promoter had gone to one of his friend’s house for the immersion of Ganesh idol. Basak had earlier claimed that when he was returning home along Canal East Road around 4-5 miscreants chased him on motorcycle and hurled bombs at him.

When Basak tried to escape, he received splinter injuries on various parts of his body. He somehow managed to reach his residence at Shanti Sen Lane. While he was entering his room in the second floor of the building some labourers who work under him and stay in the same house found that his ears were profusely bleeding.

But the investigating officer decided to arrest the promoter after they found that it was a cooked up story by the promoter to evade his own arrest. Police are also investigating whether the accused is involved in anti-social activities.
