Probe to identify ‘body’ found on New Digha beach

Police started a probe to ascertain the identity of a woman whose body was found from near the sea beach in Digha last Saturday after a fresh confusion was created over the identity of the woman.

A person from East Midnapore had identified the woman as his daughter, following which her body was cremated. But on Wednesday it was found that his original daughter had come back.

This has confused the investigating officers who had thought the deceased as the person’s daughter. Now the police have to again ascertain the identity of the deceased. The police are investigating how a father mistook the identity of his daughter. The police are investigating that if the father of the girl was involved in any foul play. They were interrogating the local people in this regard.

The person’s original daughter was on Wednesday found from Thakurpukur and the confusion came to light. The police have started a detailed probe into the incident.

The body of a 25-year-old woman was found near the sea beach of new Digha on Saturday morning. Police came to know to know in the course of investigation that she was murdered somewhere else and the body was dumped in the area surrounded by trees.

The investigating officers found noose marks around her neck. Her dupatta was found round her neck. Police mistook the identity of the woman as the person identified her as his daughter. The police had also arrested a person for his alleged involvement in the murder of the victim.
