Prime accused in Rajarhat abduction case arrested

Bidhannagar City Police arrested Mahammad Fahim, alias Rocky, the prime accused of minor girl abduction case at Rajarhat on Saturday. The accused was arrested under the charges under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

He was taken to Barasat District Court on Monday. The Chief Judicial Magistrate transferred the case to the court of Second Additional District Judge. Later, Rocky was remanded to police custody.

It may be recalled, the minor girl was kidnapped from near her house at Rajarhat’s Raigachi.

Rocky took her in an Ola cab and allegedly molested her inside the car, while the cab driver drove the vehicle to Salt Lake and then Eastern Metropolitan Bypass on Saturday night.

The girl was thrown out of the car at Chinar Park in the early hours of Sunday. A patrolling car of the Rajarhat police station rescued the girl.

The girl later called up her mother from a mobile phone. She informed the police that when she had gone out of the house for an errand, the kidnapper caught her.

Meanwhile, investigators are now looking for the accused cab driver. Rocky, a resident of Rajarhat’s Narayanpur, met the girl at a marriage ceremony. Later, they became friends on a social networking website and started chatting through mobile phone.

The victim is still in a traumatic situation and unable to talk properly. However, police took her to the area from where she was abducted to get more clues. “We have seen the exact route where she was taken. We also raided the house of accused cab driver, but managed to flee,” the officer added.
