President to attend slew of events during three-day visit

President Pranab Mukherjee will attend various programmes during his three-day visit to the state, which begins on Monday.

The President will inaugurate the CII-IIEST Conference in the city on Monday. The theme of the conference will be ‘Enabling Make in India through Industry Academia Innovation Platform’.

After attending the inauguration ceremony of the CII-IIEST Conference, Mukherjee will be joining a programme organised by the Dr Prasanta Banerji Homeopathic Research Foundation in Kolkata. He is the chief guest of the programme titled ‘The Legacy to Humanity: Celebrating 150 years of Homeopathy’.

On August 23, the President will launch the Moitree Service of the All India Radio in Bangla, followed by a programme organised to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Bangiya Sahitya Parishad.

On the same day, Mukherjee will also be inaugurating the new building of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce at Syed Amir Ali Avenue at 4.45 pm. After inaugurating the new office building, Mukherjee will address the first foundation day ceremony of Bandhan Bank in the city.

On August 24, Mukherjee will leave for Murshidabad where he will be inaugurating a mega-food park at Jangipur.

Again in Jangipur, he will be attending the convocation of Management Development Institute-Murshidabad. He will return to New Delhi the same day.

Police personnel, both in the city as well as in Murshidabad, have taken all necessary measures to avoid any sort of untoward incident when the President will be in the state.

Senior police officers held meeting and chalked out the security arrangements. Policemen will be posted at all the venues where Mukherjee will be visiting during his three-day visit.

The police have also conducted a drill on the route through which the President will be passing to reach all the venues.
