President Mukherjee to take classes on Sept 5

Students of the Delhi government schools will once again get an opportunity to attend class to be taken by President Pranab Mukherjee on this Teachers’ Day (September 5). Last year too, the President took classes here on Teachers’ Day.

The President, who was a college teacher and a journalist before he joined politics in 1969, will take class in a Delhi government school. After the class, the President is likely to address nearly a hundred teachers as well. The decision was taken on the request Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia. In a tweet, he said: “President Pranab Mukherjee, has agreed to take class as a teacher, like last year on Teachers Day.” He further tweeted: “It’s an Honor to all the teachers of the country as The President of India feels proud to be a teacher for a day.” Later, while expressing gratitude, Deputy CM tweeted: “We are very thankful to him for agreeing to inspire the students & teachers this year again.” Mukherjee has a Master’s degree in History and Political Science and also Law from the University of Calcutta. Previously, he gave lessons in political history to students of Class XI and XII of a Delhi school.
