Prerna Foundation to organise launch ceremony of Swarg Vahini

Prerna Foundation of Kolkata will be organising a programme ‘Launching Ceremony of “Swarg Vahini” (Way to Heaven)’ at Nimtala Burning Ghat, which will be inaugurated by Sudip Bandyopadhyay, MP, Shashi Panja, minister, Atin Ghosh, MMIC (Health), KMC, Bijay Upadhyay, Councillor, Ward Number 20, KMC, Sadhan Saha, chairman, Borough- II, KMC and Hari Prasad Budhia, President, Prerna Foundation and other prominent dignitaries. 

Prerna Foundation has been authorised by Kolkata Municipal Corporation for maintenance and beautification of Nimtala Burning Ghat including new electric furnace, wooden pyre, old electric furnace, Rabindra Nath Samadhi Sthal and Ahiritola Ghat. After taking over in year 2010, efforts are being taken for comfort of mourners and pollution-free wooden chulleys have been introduced. 

The NGO has already installed 2 of them and also fountain for bathing of the dead body and two Air Conditioned sitting rooms along with one VVIP lounge, trolleys, urinals, washroom, five water coolers, van for carrying wood, CCTV camera, TVs etc. Further renovation of Bangur Bishram Bhawan and repairing of Nimtala Burning Ghat is under progress.

Recently, Kolkata Port Trust has also authorised for maintenance & beautification of Ahiritola Ghat for which layout plan is under process. An application has also been made to Chairman of Port Trust for allotment of plot for a new crematorium at South Kolkata.

An air conditioned vehicle is being donated by Adukia Group costing around Rs 15 lakh is being launched on November 20 at Nimtala Burning Ghat, for carrying dead body from the mourners residence to Nimtala Burning Ghat, among others.
