Pregnant woman pushed off train by lover, loses hand

A pregnant woman who was pushed out of a running train by her boyfriend eventually lost her hand after being taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital.

The doctors in the hospital said that the victim has also received severe injuries on her head and is fighting for her life.

The incident had taken place at Shibrampur area of Ratua police station in Malda. Police came to know in the course of investigation that the victim’s boyfriend established a relationship with her with a promise of marriage.

After the victim’s family members contacted the accused identified as Asim Mondal of Ratua, he told her family members that he was going to marry another woman.

The victim’s family members urged him that their daughter has become pregnant following their relationship.

The accused denied the relationship. The victim’s family members mounted pressure on him to marry 
their daughter.

However, as their attempt turned futile, the family members of the girl lodged a complaint of rape against the accused at a local police station. To evade arrest, the accused sought an apology from the victim’s family members and told them that he was ready to marry the girl.

Asim told the victim that they would get married and asked her to come to Samsi station. When the victim reached there, the accused boarded a train along with the victim.

The accused later pushed the victim in front of another train coming from the opposite side. The victim’s one hand was cut off and she received severe injuries on her head and other parts body.

The RPF officials rescued the victim from the railway track and sent her to Malda Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Her condition is stated to be critical.

On the basis of the complaint, police are conducting raid to nab the culprit who has been at large since the accident had taken place.
