Power company conducts malaria detection camp

A day-long malaria detection camp was held at the community centre in Chhuri village in the vicinity of NTPC’s 2600-MW Korba power station here on Wednesday. Over 135 villagers were checked by a team of doctors of NTPC Hospital led by B R Soren and Divya Kasal and seven of them were diagnosed with the fever. The patients found positive were  given medicines ree of cost. Mosquito-nets were also distributed among the villagers on this occasion toprevent the spread of the disease.

Later, in a function held to mark the occasion, representatives of the village including Hirachand Panchwani, president, Nagar Panchayat, Ram Krishna Dubey, senior citizen and Jagadish Dewangan, Ward parshad praised the efforts of NTPC to conduct such programmes, especially during the monsoon season.

The power station has been conducting regular medical camps and seasonal awareness camps in the villages and has been providing medicines to the affected lot. Around twenty-two such medical camps have been conducted benefiting over 350 villagers till now during this financial year under the massive CSR programme executed by NTPC.
