Pooja Hegde will be making her debut with Hrithik Roshan-starrer Mohenjo Daro. She got selected for the “right combination of innocence, grace, dignity and strength” that the character demanded, says it’s co-producer.
Written, produced and directed by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, the epic adventure-romance is set in the city of Mohenjo Daro in the era of the Indus Valley civilisation which dates back to 2600 BC. Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker, Mohenjo Daro is slated to release on August 12.
“Ashutosh has always looked at casting new faces as the female lead when he has wanted someone to completely embody the character without any previous image attached to the actor themselves,” Sunita said in a statement.
She added: “That is why he cast Gracy for Lagaan and Gayatri in Swades. We wanted a new face for Mohenjo Daro to play the chosen one - Chaani, for the same reason. We locked on Pooja as we realised that she had that right combination of innocence, grace, dignity and strength that the character of Chaani has.
About the actions performmed in the movie,Hollywood stunt co-coordinator Glenn Boswell, who has worked on films like Titanic, and The Hobbit, choreographed Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan’s action sequences in the upcoming epic.
Mohenjo Daro will reportedly feature raw action that is in sync with the era it is set in. A lot of hand-to-hand against VFX-oriented action will be seen in the movie. Hrithik did not use any body double for the scenes.
“We have worked really hard on the action sequences,” the Bang Bang! star said in a statement. Apparently, the 42-year-old actor was extremely comfortable performing the sequences which were filmed in Bhuj and Jabalpur. Gowariker’s ambitious project has music by Oscar-winner AR Rahman. It is the director’s fourth film collaboration with Rahman after Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar and Swades.
The much-awaited release is meanwhile out with its the first song after a grand trailer. Titled ‘Tu Hai’, the romantic number has been composed by music maestro A.R. Rahman and sung by Sanah Moidutty and Rahman himself.
Hrithik will be seen romancing newbie Pooja Hegde and that is another reason why the thrill level is high for the period romantic drama. Playing the character of a princess, Pooja is seen wearing a white dress with a floral headgear. The actor certainly looks very beautiful.
And as usual Hrithik’s rugged avatar looks good. The Ashutosh Gowariker-helmed movie, set in the pre historic era marks the debut of Pooja in Bollywood and brings back Hrithik on the big screen after a long gap. The former beauty pageant contestant has worked in the Telugu films Oka Laila Kosam and Mukunda.
In the movie, Hrithik and Pooja’s chemistry is looking good and fans are likely to be entertained by this fresh pairing. Ashutosh Gowarikar directorial Mohenjo Daro also stars Kabir Bedi, Arunadoy Singh and Suhasini Muley in key roles.
