Poll debacle: Rahul to meet AICC general secys today

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has called a meeting of AICC general secretaries on Wednesday in the backdrop of the party suffering reverses in assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand.

Sources said that the meeting will be attended by all general secretaries and especially by those in charge of the two states besides Maharashtra and Haryana, which also saw Congress' crushing defeat after 15 and 10 years in power.

The Congress vice-president is likely to hold a threadbare discussion on the way ahead for Congress in states.

There is a view in the Congress party that since the next general elections will be five years away, it is time for the party to focus on states.
