Police rescue abducted bizman from Gaya

The police rescued the businessman, who was abducted from Howrah. The businessman Lakshminarayan Shaw was rescued from Gaya on Saturday. An officer said they had arrested a man identified as Aurobinda Das in this connection.  

It may be mentioned that around three people had abducted Shaw from near his shop on Haat Road in Howrah posing as policemen.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the abduction was fall out of an old rivalry between Shaw and Das over selling out a 5-cottah plot in Gaya. 

Subsequently, investigating officers from Howrah police station went to leather Complex police station area in South 24-Parganas and arrested Das’s father Mandrik Das. 

Das, who was in Gaya, had somehow received the information that his father was abducted in connection with the abduction. He had contacted a relative of Shaw here is Howrah over phone and told him that Shaw was in Gaya. At the same time he had pointed out that no one had kidnapped Shaw, he himself went to Gaya.

A police team comprising a senior officer went to Gaya and with the help of Civil Line police station they rescued Shaw. Das had, however, managed to flee.   

The investigating officers conducted raids at several places and arrested Das in the wee hours from one his friends’ house. Das was produced before a court in Gaya and he will be brought to the city in transit remand.  

Police came to know that Shaw’s native place is in Gaya and he had a 5-cottah plot there. Shaw had taken Rs 31 lakh from Das a few years ago to sell out the land. But he neither returned the money nor did he legally transfer the land in his name. 

Das came to Howrah a few months ago to settle the matter. But Shaw had asked for another Rs 15 lakh from Das. He returned to Gaya without paying the money and repeatedly contacted Shaw over phone requesting to settle the matter. Finally, he had forcefully taken Shaw to Gaya.
