Police rescue 35-year-old depression patient

Police rescued a 35-year-old woman when she was found sitting in a drowsy state inside her car that was parked on AJC Bose Road flyover.

Police said that the woman had attempted suicide in her house at Salt Lake on Thursday night by cutting her hand veins. She repeatedly said that, “I don’t want to live anymore” when she was being taken to the SSKM Hospital.

On Friday morning at around 9.20 am, an on-duty sergeant was passing through the place and found the white Skoda parked on the flyover. On approaching to the car, he found the woman, on the driver’s seat, in a drowsy state. She also had cut marks on her left hand.

He contacted the concerned officers and asked them to send ambulance to the spot immediately. The police took her to the hospital.

Police contacted her family members, who rushed to the hospital. “Her husband said that she was suffering from depression since past one year and they did not notice her absence from the house,” said a police officer adding that the car was found on the flank connecting Park Circus to AJC Bose Road.

One of her family members told police that she had attempted suicide on Thursday night. Later, she took necessary medicines and was found in a drowsy state.
