Police officer assaults on duty civic volunteer

A civic volunteer on Friday complained that he was assaulted by a police officer while he was doing his duty in front of a shopping mall at Jailkhana More in Burdwan.

Civic volunteer Shobhan Paul said as part of his duty, he was segregating parked motorbikes in which keys were left as there had been complaints of theft of motorbikes from that spot.

One of the two-wheelers moved by Paul was that of traffic inspector Tarak Mullick.

When Mullick returned, he asked Paul how he dared to touch his motorbike and assaulted him, the civic volunteer alleged.
