Police constable among four killed in separate road mishaps

In the first incident, a DTC bus hit a bike-borne couple at outer Delhi’s Rithala area on Saturday night. The woman piling on the bike was killed on the spot whereas the rider sustained injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Sarita (24) who died on the spot. Lalit (27), her husband sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The couple were living in Barawara Village. Sarita was a nurse in Stephen’s hospital. At the time of the incident she was going to the hospital from home. However, when they reached Ritahala, a DTC bus which travels between Old Delhi and Singhur Border hit them from behind.

When a police team reached the spot, they were rushed to the hospital. A case under the relevant sections has been registered and the driver has been arrested.

In the second incident, a Delhi Police head constable was killed after being hit by a speeding truck in Okhla area of southeast Delhi. The deceased has been identified as Ashok Kumar who was posted as a head constable at Badarpur police station.

The incident took place on Saturday night at around 10.20 pm when Ashok was returning to his house in Pashcim Vihar.

The truck driver, identified as Shispal (37) was arrested by police and has been booked under the sections of 279 (rash and negligent driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian
Penal Code.

In the third incident, a speeding Honda City car crushed the father-son duo, who were riding on a bike in Northwest Delhi’s Model Town on Sunday morning. The duo succumbed to their injuries. The deceased, identified as Rajendra Kumar (51) and Piyush Kumar (21) lived in Model Town and worked for a news agency.

The driver fled away from the spot.
