Police bust sex racket in Chinar Park, nine arrested

Bidhannagar Police busted a sex racket from Chinar Park area of Baguiati police station and arrested 9 persons including 7 women.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Baguiati police station raided a house in the Chinar Park area and caught them red-handed.

The police had received a number of complaints from the local residents alleging that a sex racket has been operating from various houses and hotels in the area. On the basis of the certain complaints, police started a probe and arrested the accused.

A senior police officer said that seven women and two youth were found in a compromising situation inside a house. Police raided the house late Saturday night.

The accused in the interrogation admitted their involvement in the sex racket. Police have sealed the house.

Local residents also alleged that some local anti-socials have been involved in the sex racket as a result of which various crime incidents such as theft, snatching and dacoity often take place in the area.

There were some youth who hire women from various parts of the city and also from Rajarhat areas to run the sex racket.

The police came to know in the interrogation that the sex racket had been operational in the area for quite some time.

It may be mentioned that in December last year police also busted a sex racket from the same area during which five women were arrested by the police. Police had also arrested the flat owner in this connection.

Few months ago, Bidhannagar police also busted a porn film production racket from DD Block of Salt Lake and nabbed 28 people for their alleged involvement in the incident.

Police also arrested 16 people including some women from a hotel in New Town for taking part in a sex racket which was busted by the police.
