Police arrest proclaimed offender absconding for 14 yrs

A man, who was declared proclaimed offender and absconding for 14 years, has been arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell, a senior police official said on Thursday.

“The accused, identified as Jaspal, was arrested from Kashganj in UP after a trap was laid after getting specific information. Jaspal allegedly tried to <g data-gr-id="18">flee</g> but he was pinned down by the police team,” said DCP (Special Cell) Rajiv Ranjan.

Jaspal was wanted for the alleged murder of his sister-in-law, said the police official.

After his brother’s death, Jaspal started living with his sister-in-law, who objected to his lifestyle. In 2001, he allegedly strangled his sister-in-law to death and fled to Uttarakhand with her daughter. Jaspal later left the child at their native village and shifted to Punjab. After few years, he moved to UP.

Throughout these years, he worked as a farm labourer, the official added.
