Pokhriyal pitches for preservation of Himalayas

Pitching for conservation of the Himalayas, a senior BJP leader has warned of catastrophic consequences if immediate steps are not taken to preserve the mountains, which gives livelihood to the people of the hill states.
“When we talk of Himalayas, it is not constrained to 11 states. Any change in the Himalayas can trigger catastrophic changes in the entire region,” said BJP MP from Haridwar and former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank during the launch of his book ‘’Sansad mein Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, based on his speeches made in the Parliament. The book was recently launched here by a senior state BJP leader Shyam Jaju.
During the book launch, Pokhriyal suggested the formation of a central Himalaya development council, till a new ministry for Himalayas comes into existence. The debate on Himalayas has been rising and MPs from all the parties have unanimously accepted that conservation and protection of this pristine glory should be on utmost priority.
