‘PM’s words of achche din still unfulfilled’

BSP supremo Mayawati on Sunday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promises of “achche din” have fallen flat as the middle class and farmers were facing “bure din”.

“During campaigning before the Lok Sabha polls, Modi had promised that if he was voted to power, he will ensure availability of cheaper grains for the public. But the prices of diesel, gas and petrol were hiked and water and electricity fares were also raised,” the former chief minister said while addressing a rally here.

“The Prime Minister also promised to construct houses for the poor in Uttar Pradesh and the rest of the country. In over two years’ time, no houses were constructed, no jobs given to the unemployed. No farmers were given access to cheaper agricultural methods,” she said.

She alleged that Modi has only worked for the benefit of capitalists and rich people and the middle class and farmers were “struggling to fulfil their basic needs”.

“Modi’s promises of ‘achche din’ (good days) were now converted to ‘bure din’,” she claimed.
