PMEGP scheme meant to solve unemployment woes: Mishra

Hailing the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Union Minister for MSME Kalraj Mishra on Monday said that the scheme has been launched to solve the problems of unemployment. While having interaction with the youth, the MSME Minister laid emphasis on making khadi designer friendly. Mishra appealed youth to adopt khadi in their day to day life, which will help in promoting the product.

“We all must follow the message of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had asked people to buy khadi in large quantity, individually and in group, which will help in flourishing the indigenous industry,” Mishra said during a function to celebrate 60 years of Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday.

Lauding the role of Mahatma Gandhi in promoting khadi at global level, the union minister said that Gandhi is the greatest brand ambassador for the product. On the occasion, it was also highlighted that Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan which had modest sale of Rs 16.95 lakh during 1955-56 has reached a turnover of Rs 72 crore during 2014-15.
