PM using central agencies to scare TMC: Partha

Narendra Modi’s politics of coercion will have no impact on Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and she will carry on with her demand to withdraw demonetise high value notes, Partha Chatterjee, party’s secretary general said on Wednesday.

Talking to newsmen, Chatterjee said Mamata Banerjee would continue with her movement against Narendra Modi who was looting the country and planning to sell it.

“Mamata Banerjee’s fight against Modi babu who is looting the country and planning to sell it will continue and she will stick to her demand to withdraw demonetisation of high value notes,” he said.

Chatterjee alleged that BJP with the help of central agencies tried to scare the political parties that had criticised demonetisation of high value notes and launched movement against Modi’s decision. “How many jails do you have and what are their capacities. If needed, arrest all of us but the movement against your arbitrary and dictatorial decision will continue,” he maintained.

He said people were fed up with Modi’s hypocrisy and Amit Shah’s ‘goondaism’. “Modi babu’s hypocrisy and Amit Shah’s ‘goondaism’ have ruined the country and the country has never experienced such vindictive politics,” Chatterjee added.

Chatterjee said all development work in the state had been stalled due to demonetisation. There is no work in agriculture sector. People are denied of treatment because of lack of cash. Workers in the unorganised sector are worst hit. Even salaried people could not withdraw their own money. “The whole country is facing economic crisis and no one knows when the situation will improve,” he said.

Chatterjee said: “Since November 8 night when Modi announced demonetisation of high value notes, Reserve Bank of India has become Modi Bank of India. It is issuing an instruction and on the very next day it is being withdrawn and a fresh instruction is issued. There is no planning and the government is being run whimsically.”

Criticising BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh he said: “He is a statement master general. People believe that he is at the centre of corruption,” he said adding: “People of the state will not forgive BJP’s for this disaster.”

Chatterjee reiterated that movement of Trinamool Congress would continue and the party would fight till the end. “We will fight till the end of this arbitrary rule. Such a big decision was taken without any home work and the people are suffering because of this hasty policy,” he remarked.
