PM distributes assistive devices to 11K disabled, enters Guinness

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has added another feather in his cap. This time a Guinness World Record by distributing assistive devices of around Rs 7.50 crore to 11,000 disabled people from across south Gujarat at a mega camp after around 9,000 kits were distributed to the disabled people at a similar camp held in Varanasi on his 66th birthday.

Despite receiving greetings from President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and a host of other national and foreign leaders and celebrities across the globe, PM Modi chose to celebrate birthday with disables, tribes and his mother on Saturday in his home state Gujarat and attended “Samajik Adhikarita Shivir” in Navsari. 

Modi met disabled people from across south Gujarat in the programme. While addressing the mega camp, he said, “No Divyang (disable) needs anyone's sympathy. Our Divyang (disable) sisters & brothers want to lead a life of pride & want to do well.”
