The whole world celebrates music in its different forms and manifestations through the Fête de la Musique, a day dedicated to the promotion of music and created by the French Ministry of Culture, which first took place in 1982 in Paris.

Since the first edition of Fete de la Musique, this event has known a growing success, and has become an international highlight of amateur and professional practice and of musical diversity.
This is also a very special occasion for many people in many different countries to attend free live performances, in all kinds of places, even the most unusual ones.
This celebration of music has also reached the city of Delhi. Taking part in the festivities, Alliance Française de Delhi had organized a series of musical events at the Hauz Khas Village for the second year, in a row.

A wide range of genres, musicians and type of shows were presented during this evening. The festival was dreamt with a vision of  an equal platform for amateur artists who could performed alongside the so called ‘serious’ musicians.. The event promoted the diversity of music, so that everybody could find a performance to their liking. Almost 20 bands had performed in various outlets across Hauz Khas Village.

Fête de la Musique is a celebration open to everybody, to bring together all music lovers. Among all the musical events that were held in Hauz Khas Village on 21st June, Alliance Francaise began the celebration with a band competition at 6pm organized by Alliance Française de Delhi for its students, calling for the participation of amateur or professional artists. Jasmine and Prabir and Journey of Salvation are the winners of this year’s Fete de la Musique. The winner of this Band Competition goes onto perform at different venues in 2014.

The festival came into full swing with two opening musical performances on the streets of Hauz Khas Village in the open areas followed by multiple musical performances at all various venues spread across Hauz Khas Village.
