Shades of Life

The narrow lanes of North Kolkata have a mesmerising charm of their own. Winters spent in the lanes adjoining the ghats of the Hooghly river, with the cool wind finding nooks and crannies to flow through these lanes are a pleasure. Shobhabazar-Sutanuti is full of small thread factories and the whirring sounds of the factory machines combined with the solemn moments the workers have gives us a glimpse of their lives. These photos shed light on some of the lone moments the thread-factory workers have during winter evenings.
