‘Phool walon ki sair’ once again

LG Najeeb Jung on Monday flagged off the festival of “Phool Walon Ki Sair” at Raj Niwas. It is a 7-day long festival during which Hindus and Muslims together offer floral “chaadar” and “pankha” at the Dargah of Khwaja Bakhtiar ‘Kaaki’ in Mehrauli and floral “pankha” and chhatra (canopy) is offered at the ancient temple of Devi Yogmaya in Mehrauli. The festival highlights the long tradition of harmony between Hindu-Muslim faiths and the composite culture of Delhi. Shehnai was played at Delhi Secretariat and floral “pankhas” were presented  to Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Chief Secretary in Charge S N Sahai as well.
