‘Pehelwans’ allegedly attack Matiala BJP candidate’s office

The BJP candidate from west Delhi’s Matiala, Rajesh Gahlot, alleged that his party office was attacked by AAP volunteers on the wee hours of Saturday. Two attackers, who reportedly turned out to be hired pehelwans (wrestlers), from Haryana were handed over to the police after the incident.

However, AAP said the allegations are untrue and their volunteers had no role in the incident. Gahlot
said that around 3.30 am, a large group of men had approached his office in three vehicles. They started smashing windshields of cars parked outside the office as soon as they landed. They were equipped with iron rods and hockey sticks.

When they barged inside the office premises, they confronted BJP volunteers present there and soon fled from the spot. In their bid to escape, two of them fell down from the vehicle. They were held by the BJP volunteers and later they reportedly claimed to have been hired by AAP volunteers in the area. The two men, who were pehelwans from Haryana were handed over to the police. According to a source, alleged clash between volunteers of Congress party and the police were also reported from Majnu ka Tila area which comes under the Chandni Chowk constituency. Senior police officials, however, denied such reports.
