PCR vans to have more policewomen in city: Jung

“LG directed the concerned departments to implement suggestions on women’s  issues like strengthening security outside girls’ schools, creating isolated areas in hospitals for rape survivors,” said spokesperson of LG secretariat. 

According to senior officers present in the meeting, the women’s groups raised concerns about the issues faced by women and girls, shared their views and also gave constructive suggestions to improve the status of women’s safety and security in the national Capital. 

The suggestions include measures to check eve-teasing outside schools, especially during change of shifts, isolated areas to be designated for rape survivors in hospitals, to ensure that safe 
toilet facilities are available for women and girls in schools as also in slums and other colonies, activation of committees against sexual harassment in all sectors, government, private and media, ensuring involvement of community, RWAs in gender sensitization programmes as also de-stigmatising sexual harassment, activation of gender resource centres, strengthening and convergence of women’s <g data-gr-id="18">help-lines</g> and issues of domestic violence to be main-streamed and conducting safety audits of spaces from the perspective of vulnerable areas.
