Paying salaries to ‘safai karamchaaris’ on time: MCDs to HC

Municipal Corporations on Tuesday told Delhi high court that they have been paying salaries on time to all ‘safai karamchaaris’ on their payroll, complying with the court’s directions in this regard. The SDMC told a Bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Sangita Dhingra Seghal that they have complied with the court’s July 11 direction asking the corporations to pay monthly salary of ‘safai karamchaaris’ on or before 10th of every month from August onwards. 

Similarly, in its compliance report filed before the court EDMC said that salaries of all the ‘safai karamchaaris’ till September 30 have been paid. EDMC has said that the July salary was released on August 5, while salaries for the months of August and September were released on September 1 and October 4 respectively. The Bench has now posted the matter for January 23 next year, saying it will keep it pending to monitor whether its directions were being complied with or not.
