It is a comfortable, convenient and eco-friendly mass transport system, which is benefiting lakhs of people every day. I am extremely pleased to share the experience of the people by travelling in Delhi Metro today. I wish DMRC all the best for their future endeavours.’

President Pratibha Patil is the first ever President of India to travel by the Delhi Metro. India’s Vice President, Hamid Ansari had visited the Delhi Metro on 2 December last year. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development Sudhir Krishna, and Managing Director, DMRC Mangu Singh received the President and accompanied her throughout the visit.

Mangu Singh explained the technical features associated with Metro train operations to the hon’ble President who enquired about the special features of the modern Metro trains. The President traveled in a 6-coach train during her journey using a paid smart card.
