Parts of state receive rains as monsoon sets in

The sub-Himalayan region received heavy rains since Saturday morning with Jalpaiguri recording the highest precipitation at 65.9 mm, followed by Darjeeling which received 63 mm rains, the regional MeT department said on Sunday.

While monsoon has officially entered Gangetic West Bengal, it is yet to be active in most parts of the region. Asansol and Burdwan, which fall in this region, received 8 mm and 5.3 mm rains respectively, the MeT department said.

Kolkata, received 6.4 mm rains since Saturday morning, it said.
