Parrikar unveils IAF-HAL e-portal for synergy

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday unveiled an e-portal to share information between state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Indian Air Force (IAF). Touted to be the first inter-organisation information sharing system between a defence undertaking and a defence service under the 'Digital India' initiative, the e-portal is intended to synergise competencies of both organisations.
"The portal provides authentic information to stakeholders involved and save time and eliminate <g data-gr-id="59">need</g> for frequent joint meetings at various levels," Parrikar said.

HAL chairman T Suvarna Raju said the customer-centric e-portal would leverage benefits of information sharing in real time. "The portal will enable the visibility of our <g data-gr-id="23">rotable</g> repair milestones and provide information on <g data-gr-id="62">status</g> of supply against aircraft on <g data-gr-id="63">ground</g>," he said.

IAF deputy chief Air Marshal S.B.P. Sinha said the portal would facilitate secure information sharing between the air force and HAL for better coordination, transparency and faster decision-making. The joint portal will optimise long-term planning and reduce repair and overhaul cycle time, while also reducing time for finalization of tasking and fixed price quotation (FPQ) processes, and thus ensure reduction in turnaround time and better serviceability of all IAF platforms supported by HAL.
