Parking contractors fined Rs 3.25 L for flouting norms

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Wednesday imposed a fine Rs 3.25 lakh on seven parking sites in Karol Bagh area.

The penalty was imposed following an inspection of the sites by NDMC high-powered property tax committee chairman Rajesh Bhatia, chairman of the wards committee of Karol Bagh zone Shyam Bala Chillar and deputy commissioner of Karol Bagh zone along with senior officers of the corporation.

‘The team found violation of the norms in running the parking lots. Four parking contractors were fined with 25 per cent of their annual fees which comes to around Rs 3.25 lakh in all for violating the norms in management of seven parking sites,’ Bhatia said.

The norms require display of the contractor’s name, concerned officials’ name and contact numbers in the parking lots.

Norms also demand that the parking staff should wear uniforms when on duty and that receipts should be issued through a hand-handled device.
None of these norms were not being followed at the sites that have been fined.
