Pansare passes away

Communist leader Govind Pansare, who was shot at in Kolhapur four days ago, passed away at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai on Friday evening. He was 84. Medical director Dr Geeta Koppikar said that Pansare died after his condition worsened around 9 pm. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has rushed to Breach Candy hospital. Pansare was flown to Mumbai from Kolhapur on Friday in air ambulance. The leader, who was at the forefront of the anti-road toll agitation, along with his wife Uma were shot by unidentified persons near their house in Kolhapur on Monday when they were returning from their morning walk.
