Ministry of Panchayati Raj carried out an awareness generation campaign during the Maha Kumbh Mela at Allahabad focussed on important issues relating to Panchayati Raj for the period from 10 February to 10 March through hoardings, flex–banners conveying the messages at bus queue shelters, traffic signals and outside/inside panels of UP state road transport buses, ferrying the general public/devotees between important towns and Allahabad.
Anjani Kumar Tiwari, a representative from the Ministry of Panchayati Raj also participated to supervise the awareness generation campaign on 2-3 March at Allahabad. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj makes use of the occasions such as melas for awareness generation activities for the reason that melas, fairs held in different states/UTs attract a large number of people mostly the rural masses from/outside that specific region.
This medium has been recognised to be very effective in those regions/areas where rural societies and communities are characterised by low literacy and limited access to information technology.
