Pak lists cases for trial in spl military courts

Pakistan government has prepared a list of six terror-related cases, including former minorities affairs minister Shahbaz Bhatti’s murder case, for speedy trial at newly set up special military courts.

A four-member committee constituted by the Islamabad chief commissioner has finalised six terrorism cases for trial by the military courts, the Dawn reported.

The team consisted of  deputy commissioner, SSP  of Islamabad, district attorney and DSP prosecution, it said. So far eight high-profile cases have been sent to the committee for examination but after examining them, it decided to transfer six cases to the military courts.

The special military courts have been set up to fast-track terror-related cases after the ghastly Peshawar school massacre  last month which left 150 people, most of them students, dead, in December. Bhatti’s murder case was among those selected for trial by the military courts, a police officer said.
