Pachauri gets breather till March 28

Environmental scientist RK Pachauri, 75, managed to get a relief from a Delhi court, which protected him from arrest till March 28 in a sexual harassment case. The court, however, barred him from entering Delhi-based think-tank TERI and said that he cannot leave the country without its permission.
The trial court said he cannot directly or indirectly contact members of the organisation. Dr Pachauri has been accused of sexual harassment by a 29-year-old researcher with TERI. Pachauri was granted interim bail on the condition that he will cooperate in the probe whenever needed.
Prosecution lawyers oppo-sed his bail saying the allegations against him were serious and he had not been available for detailed interrogation. The woman complainant has submitted hundreds of text and WhatsApp messages to prove her allegation against Pachauri.
She has formally recorded her statement before the magistrate. Pachauri has denied the charges and alleges that he is a victim of computer and phone-hacking. The police have seized the memory card of one of the phones confiscated from him.
