Overhead wire snaps, commuters stranded for an hour

The normal services were resumed an hour later after the railway employees and engineers rushed to the spot and repaired the overhead wire.
 
According to the government railway police, the overhead wire snapped at around 10.45 am when the Ghatshila local was entering in platform number 2 at Uluberia station.

 The people who were standing at the platform heard a loud thud while the train was entering the platform. Following the sound the railway staff members switched off the power on the wire.

The witnesses said that after the loud thud there were electrical sparks from the portion of the wire that snapped. The train services in the Up line remained suspended for an hour. The situation came under control following the intervention of the railway engineers who worked war like footing.
