Over Rs 2K-crore released to Bihar for SSA teachers: Govt

Countering the charges of not paying salaries to teachers of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Bihar, Union Human Resource Development  Ministry clarified that the Project Approval Board of SSA has approved total outlay of Rs 7,387.14 crore for Bihar for the year 2015-16.

“In the fund sharing pattern of 60:40, the Central share comes to Rs 4,432.28 crore and the ministry has already released Rs 2,515.57 crore as Central share to the state for implementation of SSA. The released amount is higher than the total release of Rs 2,163.36 crore as Central share during 2014-15,” a statement released by HRD ministry said.

“The BE and RE for SSA during the current year are Rs 22,000 crore and Rs 22,000 crore respectively. So far, an amount of Rs 19,186.27 crore stands released to the states. The balance amount may not be adequate to cater to all the pending requests of states and some release will have to be spilled over to the next financial year,” stated the statement, signed by deputy secretary Anamika Singh.
