Orange buses to start plying from today

From Wednesday, orange-coloured Delhi Transit buses will start operation on route numbers 425, 425A and 479. Passengers from south and old Delhi will be able to enjoy the services of the orange buses on route numbers 425, 425A and 479 under cluster 2. Route numbers 425 and 425A will have eight buses each and the total number of buses on route number 479 will be 23.

Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System Ltdwill monitor the operation of the buses under this cluster on behalf of the government. The government’s concessionaire for cluster 2 is Indraprastha Logistics Private Limited which provides the fleet and drivers.

The orange buses on route no 425 will start from Hamdard Nagar and go via Tara Apartment, Govindpuri extn, Nehru Place, LSR College, Moolchand Hospital, CGO Complex, Sunder Nagar, National Stadium, Delhi Gate, Red Fort and will end at old Delhi railway station. Buses on route number 425A will start at Tara Apartment and terminate at ISBT Kashmere Gate.

The buses on Route 425 will also provide connectivity with Nehru Place, Sant Nagar, Moolchand, Lajpat Nagar Metro station on Violet Line and Pragati Maidan Metro station on Blue line and Chandini Chowk on Yellow line.

The orange buses on route number 479 will start from Badarpur border and go via Apollo Hospital, Ashram Chowk, Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, AIIMS, Nauroji Nagar, Dhaula Kuan, Naraina village and will end at Punjabi Bagh Terminal.

The buses on these routes will also provide connectivity with the Badarpur, Tughlakabad, Sarita Vihar and Jasola Metro station on Violet Line and AIIMS Metro station on Yellow Line.

The Delhi Transit buses under cluster 2 are semi-low floor and equipped with GPS, internal audio visual announcement of approaching bus stops and electronic ticketing machines. Like in all Delhi Transit buses, the route and destination of each bus will be displayed externally on three electronic boards on the front, rear and on the left hand side of the bus respectively. All Delhi Transit buses under cluster 2 will be garaged at Kushaknala Depot. The depot has a capacity for 232 buses.
