Opposition corners BJP on unkept promises

Releasing a booklet “Ghoshnabaaz Sarkar Che 100 Divas”, state Congress Chief Manikrao Thakre said BJP had rode to power making claims that it would rid the state of LBT and levy of toll. Similarly, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the party if voted to power would give reservation to Dhangar community.

“It has not fulfilled a single promise made during the elections,” Thakre charged.

He said while in Opposition, BJP would demand loan waiver and heavy compensation to farmers suffering due to natural calamities. But now, government has done nothing to mitigate hardships of farmers reeling under severe drought conditions.

“The state government has not been able to get a single penny as central assistance for drought relief. When Congress was in power, it provided good price for agriculture produce. The present government has completely ignored the farmers. Cotton, soya bean, sugarcane producers are suffering due to neglect by the government,” he alleged.

Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said Finance Minister Sudhi Mungantiwar while in Opposition had demanded that case of human genocide should be filed against the erstwhile Congress- NCP government for farmers suicides.

“Shouldn’t the demand be implemented now, as the incidence of farmers suicides has risen in the last 100 days,” he said, adding the 20 per cent concession on electricity bills of farmers has been stopped by the government. Both Thakre and Vikhe Patil lashed out at the Centre for “reducing importance of Mumbai and Maharashtra”.
