Operation Chakravyuh: Cops prosecute 985 traffic offenders

In a drive to curb the tendency to violate traffic laws the Delhi Traffic Police is running Operation Chakravyuh from the past few weeks. On Tuesday, the operation was conducted on Kingsway Camp and 985 traffic offenders were prosecuted.

“In a short span of two hours, 985 traffic offenders were prosecuted. Around 18 vehicles were impounded and a total of Rs 91,200 fine was collected from these offenders. This has broken the record of the previous two Chakravyuh operations.

“Very soon we will carry out operation Maha Chakravyuh with simultaneous operation at several junctions in Delhi,” said Muktesh Chander, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

In many cases, car owners were booked for handing over their vehicles to minors. Some of the vehicles were also impounded, Chander said.
