Op singh is new cisf director general

IPS O P Singh, on Monday, took charge as Director General, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). He is the 26th Director General of CISF. Singh holds a Master Degree in Political Science and MBA in Disaster Management. He has the distinction of having graduated from National Defence College, New Delhi. 

He joined Indian Police Service in the year 1983 and was allotted Uttar Pradesh cadre. During his tenure as DG NDRF, he has led major search and rescue operations during various natural disasters that hit the country between 2014-16. Earlier, he has served in the CISF as the Additional Director General (Airport Sector). He has been decorated with the Indian Police Medal for Gallantry in 1993, Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1999 & President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2005. 

During his career spanning 33 years, he has held several sensitive and important positions in UP serving as SSP, DIG, IG and ADG addressing challenging issues of law and order, crime prevention, crime detection, traffic management, managing mega events (including Ardh Kumbh Mela of Allahabad), Police telecommunication, intelligence, security, community policing etc. Singh has served in Special Protection Group (PM’s Security) and also served in Central Reserve Police Force for almost a decade.
