Only six state PSUs to execute govt projects

The state government directed all its departments and directorates not to nominate any organisation other than six state PSUs and corporations for execution of any project.

As per the notification issued by the state finance department, government works has to be executed through West Bengal Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, Mackintosh Burn Limited, Hooghly River Bridge Commissioners and Development authorities under Urban Development Department.

Sundarbans Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited could be engaged for execution of government works in Sunderbans areas only.

The Finance Department would select other state organisations or corporations “from time to time”.

The Memorandum-of-Understandings of the ongoing projects not included in the notification will continue.

The step has been taken to assist the PSUs to revive their financial health. The management of the PSUs had been waiting for a long time for the notification.

Finally, it has been issued and according to an official of a PSU it will not only help the organistions but it would be equally profitable for the state government.

This comes at the time when the state government is leaving no stone unturned to utilise fund allocated for each and every project in a proper manner. It would also ensure timely completion of the projects.
