ONGC officer runs for 50 years of ITBP

It was a Sunday morning in Delhi. The chilly autumn breeze, an early harbinger of winter, skittered high and forlorn among the tree lined avenues of Lutyen’s Delhi.

When most preferred to stay in our bed, the chief vigilance officer of ONGC had other plans. At the break of dawn, on 7 October 2012, Sanjeeva Kumar, CVO was at the forefront of thousands of participants of Delhi half marathon organised to commemorate 50 years of formation of ITBP.

As the marathon progressed, many of the participants took to the side lanes and almost gave up while trying to escape the merciless heat enroute the gruelling 21.09 km circuit, which started and culminated at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

However, Kumar, bearing Number 229 on his shirt, showed indomitable spirit as he completed the half marathon in about 2 hrs and 31 minutes. Besides physical endurance, it was a testimony of Kumar’s will- power and spirit to fight all odds with a tireless attitude.

Sanjeeva Kumar, the man with brain and brawn, is a sports enthusiast and ONGC takes great pride in having him at the helm of vigilance department.
