One more arrested in Bansdroni shooting
Police arrested another person on Monday morning in connection with the incident of firing at Bansdroni, in which a 38-year-old building material supplier was shot at following a scuffle with members of his rival syndicate during a roof-top party on July 1.
Subrata Roy, alias Bhai, who was arrested on Monday, is the fourth person till date to be involved in the incident. The accused is a resident of Chakdaha Government colony near Purba Putiary and he was arrested from near Tollygunge Metro Station. Police had arrested three persons earlier in this connection.
Roy is one of the associates of Nanti, who was the prime accused in the Haridevpur firing incident, in which a youth was killed when his associates had opened fire following a brawl in a restro-bar.
On the day of the incident at Bansdroni, Roy, along with other associates of Nanti including Johny Ganguly, Shuklal Naskar, Kala and Monu, had attended the party in which the building material supplier Rajib Nanti was shot at. Police had earlier arrested Johny and Monu.
A police officer said that they would reconstruct the crime scene after interrogation of all the four arrested accused. Police feel that they know where the rest of the accused have taken shelter. Hence, the task of arresting the rest would become easier after interrogating them.
In the course of the interrogation, police would also ask them to reveal the main perpetrator who had opened fire at the businessman and supplied the firearms to the accused.
