One killed, 5 injured in road accident

An over-speeding Honda city car rammed into a truck leaving a 23-year-old woman dead, and three other girls grievously injured at East Delhi’s Pandav Nagar area on Saturday night.

The four girls were travelling from Ghaziabad along with their friends Bhola Prashad and Ajay Kumar.

Shalini Rana, a resident of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, died on the spot while her friends Pooja
Tomar, 23, Priyanshi Chaudhary, 23, Pooja Pathak, 22, Ajay, 25, and Bhola, 24, suffered injuries.

The accident took place at 9.30 pm when the speeding car lost control and slammed behind the truck.

Bhairon Singh Gurjar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (DCP, East) said, “The deceased, Shalini Rana
came to the city to take coaching for bank entrance examinations. She was living with the other three girls as a paying guest in Laxmi Nagar.”   According to police officials, locals made the PCR call and an Emergency Response Vehicle standing nearby rushed to the spot. Since Shalini was in a serious condition, she was directly taken in a private car to the Max Healthcare hospital in IP Extension, while the rest were admitted in Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital. Liquor bottles were also found in the car.
